Avid runner Larry Davis died after a courageous 6 year fight against mesothelioma cancer. Larry was born in New Haven, CT. He passed away the morning of July 2, 2012 in his home in FL, survived by his wife Carol and daughter Courtney.
Mesothelioma is deadly and there is no cure. One of the many things that has kept Larry focused on life through these difficult times has been his love of running. He ran track throughout high school, began running marathons in the late 70’s and has run the country’s most prestigious marathons, Boston and New York, numerous times. Until recently he continued to compete in races around South Florida, winning in his division. Larry was the race director of the Meso for Miles-Boca Raton held in February to raise money and awareness of Mesothelioma, which kills many hard working Americans every year. Larry’s life and drive largely revolve around his fondness to take to the streets in his favorite sneakers, and with this scholarship we hope to help another runner find their passion.
